Ergonomics of a seat

After researching, disasters, psychology and the human mind, i came to realise that there are many aspects to help the human body maintain relaxation. During a disaster anxiety and panic engulf's the human's emotions causing them to be physically and mentally exhausted. By designing an element (safety raft) that would allow them to escape the disasters on the outside and maintain a calm body, one has to consider the study of ergonomics.

Ergonomics is the relationship and interaction between the human body and the product they use. The import thing about ergonomics is to ensure that designs created balance the strengths and abilities of people and minimise the effects of their limitations, rather than forcing them to adapt.
As designers we focus on:-
  •      Function
  •      Dimensions
  •      Materials
  •      Appearance of the product
  •      User requirements
Ergonomics of the human body by Leonardo Da Vinci

Research has shown that floods in the UK can last from 8 hours to a whole month. Therefore when designing i must consider a long term space.

Sofas and chairs are not only pieces of furniture; rather, they are shelters to escape to, havens for the body to refresh and recover and for the mind to relax and dream.  They are objects used for the body to be entirely comfortable. A good ergonomically designed seat should allow good blood circulation and relaxed back muscles

Human bodies, vary in shapes, sizes and form, therefore in order to design anything i must know people's different postures

The Back At A 70° Angle
The spinal cord will be in pain after a few minutes. This type of designed chair is often seen in fast food restaurants, to keep the people on the move.
The Back At A 90° Angle
The spinal cord will be irritated quickly, these sort of seats are designed for the office to keep the workers alert at all times

The Back At A 136° Angle
Is the best relaxing position. Chairs or with 136° or higher  are alway found at homes, spas or anywhere to relax

Water waves and light create together a unique relaxation experience. A dream made of water, light and music.

A light source illuminates water waves moving on a special mirror surface in a small basin.
The water surface is calm, the waves move quietly.
The design of the waves is projected on the ceiling and walls.
Surprisingly beautiful, relaxing and always changing wave images fill the room above your head.

“Wave Dream” has been installed in small and large rooms, with different shapes.
The water basin will be preferably placed in the middle of the room, or near a wall.
The projection of the waves will be either on the ceiling, on the walls, or on both surfaces.

A silent technical system for generating the water waves operates under the water basin.

It has been developed for “Wave Dream” and includes water wave generators which are controlled by an electronic unit, and run with software created for “Wave Dream”.
The technical system for generating the water waves has proven to be absolutely reliable since the first units of “Wave Dream” have been installed in 2002. Should there still be the need of changing the electronic control unit or a wave generator, they are easy to replace.

"Wave Dream” is easy to install and maintain.
We suggest a drain in the floor for easy emptying of the water basin once a month (20 liters – 5 gallons).
The normal diameter of the “Wave Dream” water basin is 1.1 meter (3.6 ft), the minimum being 0.8 meters (2.6 ft)

“Wave Dream” has been installed since 2002 in relaxation rooms of Spas, Wellness Centers, Hotels, Convention Centers, Museums as well as private homes.
